59th Annual Grammy Awards Review

Just last week on Sunday, February 12th, was the 59th Annual Grammy Awards and it was definitely one to remember! The Grammy Awards are one of my favorite award shows .. it truly is music’s biggest night! There were so many great moments. I want to point out some of my favorite performances of the night:

The Weeknd ft. Daft Punk – Starboy/I Feel It Coming Medley

I love the galactic feel to this performance. Even though it was only a quick couple seconds of “Starboy”, it still set the mood of the performance. It was a smooth transition to “I Feel It Coming”. Both are undeniably two of The Weeknd’s biggest hits. “I Feel It Coming” is one of my favorite songs. It’s so reminiscent of Michael Jackson.. the vibe, his voice, everything about it.. I love it!

Keith Urban ft. Carrie Underwood – The Fighter

I was definitely feeling this performance! “The Fighter” is such a tune!!! It’s got a Country Pop feel. Carrie Underwood is just a natural talent.. has a beautiful voice. Their voices go perfectly together. It was a simple performance but I enjoyed it nonetheless! Check this song out if you haven’t already.

Ed Sheeran – Shape of You

Ok, this was one of the performances I could NOT wait for! Ed Sheeran released this single just last month along with “Castle on the Hill” in support of his latest album ” ÷” releasing on March 3rd. There’s no denying that Ed Sheeran has pure talent. He was a one man band.. this performance is a must see! Shape of You” is one of the best songs so far this year..

Katy Perry ft. Skip Marley – Chained to the Rhythm

Can I say first how great Katy Perry looks in blonde hair?! She released this single just 2 days before the Grammys. It’s definitely a hit! Her performance was fun, the set was pretty cool.. some of it was kind of trippy! This performance definitely got the audience moving.

Bruno Mars – That’s What I Like

I mean save the best for last right? Obviously Bruno Mars’ performance of “That’s What I Like” was my FAVORITE. Also want to point out the Hooligans too who were on fire, like always. I mean.. there’s really nothing to say. Bruno is the best in the industry.. no questions asked.

Bruno and the Hooligans also got take part in a special tribute to the one and only Prince with a performance of “Let’s Go Crazy” with a full out Prince inspired costume with white ruffles, a white guitar and even had eyeliner on. This is definitely how a tribute should be done!!! Bruno and the Hooligans nailed it. Just before Bruno took the stage for the Prince tribute, The Time and Morris Day kicked it off with “Jungle Love” and “The Bird“.

A couple more performance I want to note is Beyonce’s performance of “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles” from her Lemonade album. The visual elements of this performance were breathtaking and beautiful. Adele’s rendition of George Michael’s “Fastlove” was beautiful. There were clips of George Michael playing on the screen behind her. It accompanied the performance so well and captured the emotion of what she was singing. George Michael is sorely missed.

That was my thoughts on the Grammy performances this year, let me know what you agree on or disagree on. I want to hear your thoughts! For more on the Grammys, be sure to grammy.com!

The Little Man of Disneyland

Did any of you used to read or own those Disney Little Golden Books? I need to dig mine up somewhere. I had quite a few.. they are classic treasures! One I’d like to share with you is the story “Little Man of Disneyland” which was published in 1955. The story tells of a little leprechaun named Patrick Begorra who lived in a small house at the bottom of a tree. The tree was located in an orange grove in Anaheim. He becomes disturbed as he meets Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto and Mickey Mouse coming barging onto his property. They plan on building Disneyland on the property he lives on. They take him back to the studio in Burbank to show him all of the drawings, concept art and plans for Disneyland. After careful consideration, Patrick agrees that they can have the land as long as he can have a little house of his own at Disneyland.

When you visit Disneyland, be sure to stop by Adventureland and head near the entrance of the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction and you may spot a little house tucked away at the bottom of a tree. I wonder who may live there..

Comment below if you’ve seen Patrick’s little house! Let me know what other Disney trivia I can write on!

Disney Parks Castles

The Walt Disney Company has six parks around the world. Each park has a special themed castle that are similar but at the same time very unique.  In this post, I’ll be explaining about each of the Disney parks castles:

(Photo: insidethemagic.net)

  1. Sleeping Beauty Castle (Disneyland – Anaheim): Sleeping Beauty’s castle in the original Disney park, Disneyland in Anaheim is special because it’s the only one Walt Disney got to fully work on and experience. This castle stands at 77 ft tall. It has a drawbridge in the front that has only been used twice: when Disneyland officially opened in 1955 and when the new Fantasyland opened in 1983. Another thing that people may not know if that there’s a Sleeping Beauty walk through in which you get to experience the story in a unique way. You get to read through the story as you watch different animated scenes in the walk through. And the music is just absolutely beautiful. The location of Sleeping Beauty’s castle is a popular location to watch Disneyland firework shows. Because this castle is the original, just like the park itself, I find it the most special.cinderellacastle2(Photo: more-sky.com)
  2. Cinderella Castle (Magic Kingdom – Orlando): At the end of Main Street at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom stands Cinderella’s Castle which stands 183 ft tall. The construction of the castle finished in July of 1971, the park opened on October 1, 1971. Some of the castle’s look was inspired by the Palace of Versailles in France. You can dine at Cinderella’s Royal table, with so many choices of delicious food and dessert.. you might want to try the Chocolate Slipper dessert, either with white or dark chocolate with icing inside.. amazing! And you never know when your favorite Disney princess might stop by. There is also a dream suite located in Cinderella’s Castle. which was built in 2006. A couple more facts; the castle has 3 elevators, the drawbridge does not raise, and the stage in front of the castle is used for shows and holiday events.tdl002155large(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)
  3. Cinderella Castle (Tokyo Disneyland): The Cinderella Castle in Tokyo Disneyland is not as tall as the one in Walt Disney World, it still stands at an impressive 168 ft tall. The castle has Cinderella’s Fairy Tale hall, where you can walk the castle and see beautiful paintings and artwork that follow her story.hongkong(Photo: thedlandinsider.blogspot.com)
  4. Sleeping Beauty Castle (Hong Kong Disneyland): This castle is Disneyland castle’s twin. It pretty much is spot on. This castle stands at 77 ft as well with less trees surrounding it’s view. However, beginning in 2018 Hong Kong Disneyland will be getting an all new castle. From the looks on the artwork on the Disney Parks Blog, the castle will still have familiar features from the original Disneyland castle but will be expanded into a much larger castle. Besides the expansion of the castle, Hong Kong Disneyland plan on bringing in two new themed areas based on Frozen and Marvel.n024777_2023oct25_le-chateau-de-la-belle-au-bois-dormant_16-9(Photo: disneylandparis.co.uk)
  5. Sleeping Beauty Castle (Disneyland Paris): Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland Paris measures at 160 ft tall. It also has a gorgeous walk through that takes you into the story of Sleeping Beauty. What makes this castle unique is Dragon Lair which is located underneath the castle. Inside you’ll find a life size animatronic dragon!shdr-att-enchanted-storybook-castle-hero-new(Photo: shanghaidisneyresort.com)
  6. Enchanted Storybook Castle (Shanghai Disneyland): Last but not least, the latest Disney Parks castle is Enchanted Storybook Castle. It’s the tallest out of all of the Disney Parks castles measuring almost at 197 ft tall. The castle is not themed after one princess but represents all of them. You’ll find the restaurant Royal Banquet Hall inside. Also, there are 2 attractions: ‘Once Upon a Time’  Adventure which is a unique Snow White walk through with interactive scenes with impressive technology. The other attraction in the castle is Voyage to the Crystal Grotto. It’s a boat ride that starts outside of the castle then moves beneath the castle and takes you through different Disney movies such as Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, and so much more. This ride is similar to Storybook Land Canal at Disneyland but much more upgraded.

I hope you enjoyed this post on the Disney Parks castles around the world! Which castle is your favorite or which ones have you visited?

The Main Street Electrical Parade Commercial

As many of you have seen already, Disney released a brand new commercial in honor of the Main Street Electrical Parade coming back home to Disneyland on January 20th! This commercial is probably one of the best commercials Disney has ever released. You will appreciate it especially if you’re an older Disney fan who grew up in the parks.. this commercial brings back some serious nostalgia! It takes you on a quick look through old attractions which is amazing. Well done Disney! If you haven’t seen the commercial, watch it below and then I will go through a quick analysis:

Now let’s take a closer look at the commercial:1At the start, the woman, who I assume is either an imagineer or a castmember, enter this warehouse looking building. You’ll see the numbers 64658, which is the zip code to Marceline, Missouri (Walt Disney’s hometown).2aAs the doors begin to open, you’ll see Skull Rock from Disney’s classic Peter Pan. Skull Rock was a restaurant that used to be in Fantasyland in the 60’s. 3aThe first thing that caught my eye in this scene is the original Disneyland sign! That one was around from 1958 to 1989. I wrote about it here if you’re interested. In the middle at the top, you’ll see a Skyway bucket which is from the Skyway attraction that ran from 1956-1994. When riding the Skyway, guests could travel up across the park and even through the Matterhorn. I wrote about that attraction here. To the left of the bucket, you’ll see the Rocket Jets from Tomorrowland. The attraction lasted for about 30 years (1967-1997). A similar attraction we have now is Astro Orbitor, which is at the entrance of Tomorowland. Next, you’ll see old lamp posts from Main Street I’m assuming. Shift your eyes diagonal right, you’ll see a sea creature from Submarine Voyage (now Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage). You’ll see to the right the microscope you enter in the Adventures Thru Inner Space attraction from Tomorrowland (Star Tours is now located there). And to the bottom right, you’ll see Dumbo. I believe this is from the 50th Anniversary. Back in 2005, one Dumbo was painted gold in honor of the 50th Anniversary. 4bTo the right, you’ll see an old Popcorn cart from Main Street and to the left you’ll see old costume heads from the America On Parade.4aNotice that little guy on the right? That’s Captain Rex from Star Tours.  You’ll even hear an old Star Tours sound during this scene. To the left is an old Autopia car.5aAt the top where the arrow is pointing, I’m assuming that is an old tea cup from the Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland. Below it is an old Peoplemover Vehicle from Tomorrowland. To the right, the BTR symbol is something from Big Thunder Ranch. Below that is an eagle from America Sings6aThis one is an easy one.. that’s the Yetti from Matterhorn Bobsleds. His name is “Harold” as cast members would call him. 7aIn this scene, you’ll see to the left another look at a Peoplemover vehicle, familiar Princess dresses and a Flying saucer that flies across the screen from the Flying Saucers attraction in the 60’s from Tomorrowland (that attraction only existed for less than 6 years). 7bIn the same scene, you’ll notice a bunch of old attraction posters in the back. Starting from the left, it’s not that clear but it’s the Country Bear Jamboree. To the right of that, you’ll see the Alice in Wonderland attraction. Next to that is the Jungle Cruise, right next to that one is Astro-Jets (very hard to tell but I’m pretty sure). Down below, is the Dumbo attraction. 8aHere you’ll see the attraction poster for the original Tom Sawyer Island. Next to that is the poster for the Mickey Mouse Club Theater in Fantasyland. It opened in 1955, then changed to the Fantasyland Theater in 1964. It closed in 1981 and became Pinocchio’s Daring Journey attraction in 1983. To poster on the right is the original Submarine Voyage.9The last scene, the point of this commercial, shows the woman putting a light bulb on which happens to be Elliot from Pete’s Dragon. The shot zooms out and we see all of the original floats from the Main Street Electrical Parade! It is absolutely breathtaking and just brings back so many memories. That was all of the things I could point out, let me know if I missed anything!Although I’m sad Paint the Night ended it’s run last night, I’m excited that this parade is coming back home. Wish there was a way both parades can stay but this will be great! I feel like this commercial made me feel better and more excited that it’s coming back! Hope you enjoyed this post! What are your thoughts on the parade?

It’s almost 2017!!! What better way to ring in the New Year than with Disney’s special live stream of “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks from the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World! Be sure to catch it on the Disney Parks Blog on Saturday, December 31st at 11:45 pm ET! Happy New Year!!!

The 1975 Live at the O2

The 1975 is one of my all time favorite bands! Just recently, they performed at the O2 in London on December 16th and the full show was uploaded on their Vevo channel on YouTube. I thought I’d share this with all of you who haven’t seen it, or have never listened to this band.

One of the many things I love doing is sharing music I love with others. The 1975 is one I will quickly mention if people ask what I listen to. I love them because they are different, and they’re not afraid to show that. They always have stayed true to who they are and don’t care what people think of them. Their music just takes you to a different world and makes you feel so alive. I don’t know how to explain it but The 1975 is just incredible. I hope you will appreciate them just as much as I do. Enjoy their show! Let me know what you think of it and if you have comments on The 975 in general, let me know!
